Windows 7 may release on a USB drive
By: Peter Chubb | June 27, 2009 | Leave a CommentThere have been a number of rumors surrounding Windows 7, the upcoming operating system from Microsoft, such as the half price cost of the software. The latest is that Microsoft could offer copies of Windows 7 on a USB drive; this would then give them a third alternative for offering copies of Windows 7.
This third solution could certainly become popular with netbook users who do not have a DVD drive, and do not wish to wait to download a copy from the Microsoft website. Installation from a USB drive is much faster than from a DVD, so even notebook owners with a DVD drive may opt for the USB solution.
According to Ars Technica, there is however a downside to this though, USB drives are a more expensive option than DVD to mass-produce, and they doubt that Microsoft would be happy with that. Ars Technica then asked a Microsoft spokesperson, they said that they could not confirm such a rumor.
