Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Exec Andrew House has made some recent comments about the new Sony PSP Go’s price tag, which will go on sale for $249 on October 1st in the US and Europe.
A lot of gamers out there are naturally angered by the premium price tag that Sony have placed on their new device and Andrew House made the following statement on the price of the PSP Go:
“When you introduce a new piece of hardware you have the opportunity to say there is a certain premium that is associated with it, and we took that into account.”

I don’t mind it. I just compare it to Ipod touch 2nd gen. Its still $50 cheaper and has better graphics and game quality. I will be an early adopter. One other thing, Ipod touch doesn’t offer expandable memory. Don’t need touch screen or motion control either. Having PS2 quality games on the go in a smaller package and bluetooth is enough for me.
Terrible, terrible idea. The only real problem I find with the Psp Go is the removal of the UMD drive, which will most definately make a LOT of current psp owners angry, as no one will want to pay the money for the upgrade AND new games. I’d welcome this completely if it had a UMD drive, but now sony is most likely going to be focusing on creating downloadable games rather than the soon to be outdated UMD’s. It looks great, but It better be damn good or this will be a big mistake on Sony’s part.
