Samsung Mini-Card SSD for netbooks
By: Peter Chubb | June 25, 2009 | Leave a CommentSamsung have announced that they are now sampling a Mini-Card SSD, which will be ideal for users who wish to expand their netbooks. This will now allow users to not only have an SSD as the primary storage device, but also as a complementary drive, as it will offer greater performance by giving the netbook dual drive capabilities.
NewsWire explains that the world is now starting to embrace SSD technology, thanks to a huge reduction in the price. These Solid State Drives are now more cost-efficient, reliable and more energy efficient, and this has to be the perfect cocktail with such new technology. As the price of 2.5-inch SSDs reduce, thiis will then have an affect on the standrad Hard Disk Drive.
The new Samsung Mini-Card SSD has a mini-PCI Express (PCIe) form factor offering a SATA 3.0Gb/s interface, this is 80 percent smaller than a standard 2.5-inch hard disk drive. It is for this reason that it will become the ultimate solution for use in a small netbook, where everything is about keeping small.
