The UK saw the release of the HTC Hero yesterday, and while this is the hottest Android phone yet, the real hero of the new handset is its customized Android OS user-interface “HTC “Sense UI.” It is this alone that helps things run sweet, without this, the hardware would not be able to perform as well as it does.
IntoMobile explains that they already knew that HTC was working on a custom user-interface for the Android OS, but they did not know that it was ever going to be as good as this. IntoMobile has made a bold statement when they say “HTC’s Sense UI might be singly responsible for making the HTC Hero the first truly awesome.”
The Android OS is already impressive on its own, but the Sense UI with its widget-based interface allows for a quicker glance at information, such as multiple side-scrolling homescreen panes. The new system offers a dedicated search feature; this will then search through your entire phone as well as online sources to get the information that you seek.
The HTC Hero has better hardware as well, such as a new 5-megapixel camera, G-sensors, Wi-Fi, 3G, a compass like the iPhone 3G S, and much more. All of these features would be nothing without is software, so it seems like the perfect marriage.
