The latest Apple iPhone software iPhone OS 3.0 has certainly been a popular download, with over 6 million downloads since it was released just over a week ago. The new firmware update is not only on the new iPhone 3G S, but also the previous models, the iPhone 3G and the original 2G model.
Our friends over at Phones Review have been doing some digging, and it seems that Gearlog has reported that the latest firmware was causing the battery life on the older models to drain down quicker than before the update.
We assume that it is just a debugging issue, but as this is the final release of the iPhone OS 3.0, this should not be happening. There are no reports that this is affecting the new iPhone 3G S, but how would we know if we do not have any previous results to go on. Let us hope that Apple come up with a solution very soon.

hey! i do agree that the new update is causing the batt life to decrease faster than before the update.
recently, i noticed dat the phone heats up while charging and it gives a fully charged icon when its actually showing a half-charged batt at the main window.
argh.
Interesting, I thought my battery life seemed much better with the 3.0 OS on my original EDGE/GPRS phone (in WiFi range about 80% of time), may be an issue specific to cellular data, or the 3G network. Just updated to 3GS, but nothing to compare it with.
