Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle: PS3 and Xbox 360

Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle: PS3 and Xbox 360

By: Jamie Pert | June 24, 2009 | 5 Comments

With the release of Tekken 6 not due until late September on both the XBOX 360 and the Sony PlayStation 3, many people still think stock controllers just don’t do the games justice, therefore Hori plan to release a Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle.

The bundle is expected to be on sale at a price of $150 and includes Tekken 6, a wireless joystick and a collectable art book. A lot of people will think the price is a little steep but for the hardcore beat em up fanatics it will bring back the memories of playing in the arcades.

If you head over to joystick there are a few nice photos of the pack, along with in-game pictures including the samurai pack.

Anyone else think the beat ‘em up genre is getting seriously tiresome? Where do they go? Tekken 1 was great and I’m sure VF1 was equally splendid. But the whole genre has close-to-zero progression or evolution as a gametype. Just smarter graphics and… and… well, that’s about it. What do they offer now that they didn’t 10 years ago?

I’m not on about fighting as Darth Vader, or tagging a teammate, etc. I’m talking about proper genre-shifting/defining changes. Something that tempts the jaded or cynical gamer back to a franchise.

    /Rant over. :-)

They have evolved but it wouldn’t seem like it to someone who just sees the game and doesn’t read up on the games fighting system. Fighting games have been evolving for a while now nothing has been the same since Street Fighter 2.

Ah… wait a moment! :-) I download the demos (playable). Actually, I bought Tekken 5 Online. Also, played Soul Calibre (sp?) demo from the PSN. Graphically stunning might I add.

However, I (and a few friends who’ve also left the genre) still feel like it’s a variation on a theme. One could aim that sentiment at many genres but I feel that the beat-em-up genre suffers most.

I wish I knew where it could go… where the entire game-type could expand into or evolve gently into something special, but I don’t.

Personally, and I appreciate this is all opinion so highly subjective, but I remember the halcyon days gone by and always quite fancy coming back to it. However, I always stop myself and remove the rose-tinted glasses first.

The same could be said for Gran Turismo. Another franchise that I simply don’t get excited about anymore.

I’m just saying this to bunimomike,

It cant evolve any more than a fight game. It sounds like to me that fighting type games are not for you. Of all games to slander tekken is not one to do so. As its the most evolutionary fighting game to date.

  • Are you kidding?

It’s a fighting game dude. I’m not sure what you are looking to see. The player movement is the best I’ve ever seen. All lightning bolts and flashes of fire aside the characters just move great. It look like the movements of a real martial artist that’s of course sometimes exaggerated. It is the most popular arcade fighting game in Japan for a reason. Oh ya and SF1 was complete crap that’s why you’ve never seen it.
