Street Fighter IV on PC: 60 FPS vs 30 FPS

Street Fighter IV on PC: 60 FPS vs 30 FPS

By: Daniel Chubb | June 24, 2009 | 4 Comments

As all of you gamers out there will know Street Fighter is well known for its amazing graphics and the way it likes to make each little detail stand out, as expected the graphics for it on Xbox 360 and PS3 were amazing but there main goal was to get the graphics right on pc, so for those of you with the powerful gaming computers then this could well be the game for you.

The main focus of this report is the 2 videos below which are showing you the difference in gameplay on 30 FPS and 60 FPS, but its down to you which one you think looks better or what would be more suited for you and your computer, if you have the right computer to run the 60 FPS then do it but if you prefer the look of the 30 FPS then run it on that.

As you can see the videos are showing you the difference in gameplay quality on the 2 different graphic settings but in my views I would recommend using the 30 FPS settings because you get to see all the special movements and the entrance scenes at a slower pace making things seem more tense giving it that wow factor but those of you that prefer the faster gameplay then the 60 FPS setting is the one for you because with that there is no holding back its all flat out no slowing down on this one everything seems faster giving you a good adrenaline rush while playing.

    You need to turn off V-Sync. The GTX280 should be pushing that game allot faster. Take for example my PC, doesn’t have a 280. But, I have 4g XMS3 DDR3 PC12800@1600MHZ w/ a Core 2 Quad @ 3g, w/ a GTX260 core 216, and I got:

    Score: 6072
    Average: 65.96 FPS

    OS: Vista Enterprise
    CPU: Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 3GHZ
    Memory: 4094MB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216
    Display Setting: 1920×1200 60Hz C16xQAA

You should be able to push yours higher than mine.

My laptop sucks so bad i thought that I was playing it at the normal speed 30 fps.. like playing the CPU on hardest at this fps is so funny b/c I could read their moves so easily.. BTW, it looks so beautiful though I could notice every thing.

holy crap you can tell the CPU, RAM and particular nvidia driver makes a huge difference in this game! as compared to the GTX 280 being used in the vids here, I only have a GTS 250 but can run at max settings (including C16xQAA and 1920×1080 resolution) and average above 69 fps in the benchmark! My specs:

    Vista Home Premium 64 bit

    i7 920 @ 2.66GHZ stock speed

    6 GB DDR3 RAM

    GTS 250 1 GB

My trick: in order to run SF IV above 69 fps with my system on such high settings I first upgraded my nvidia driver to 190.62 (or higher). Before I boot up SF IV, I access the nvidia control panel (simply right click desktop) and choose "Enhance the Application setting – 2xAA" tab under 3D Settings. Then I start SF IV and choose the aforementioned graphical settings making sure to leave Vsync disabled (huge difference). Easy as that. These videos here are not really tapping the true power of the GTX 280! What a shame.
