Price: PSP Go Digital Games vs. UMD
By: Peter Chubb | June 24, 2009 | Leave a CommentMichael Ephraim, the Australian and New Zealand Chief for Sony has been talking to ITWire.com about the events from E3 2009, and what he had to say about the price of the games for the PSP Go (read specs here) were very interesting.
Ephraim did try to defend UMD, insisting that it will still be used, but it is what he has to say about the new digital PSP Go’s games that we thought we would comment on. He stated that these new games would have the same pricing structure as the PSP 3000.
LazyGamer are trying to understand what he means by this, could he mean that it will have the same pricing structure, or does he mean that they will be the same price as a UMD game. Surly these new digital games will be much cheaper than a game in UMD form.
Here is how Sony comes up with its price for a UMD game, Game License $40, Manual $5, UMD + Case $5, Delivery $5 and Marketing $5. This makes it AUD $60 per title, so surly we can expect to see at least $15 slashed of the price of each title.
