New PS3 Firmware 2.80 Update Confirmed
By: Peter Chubb | June 24, 2009 | 14 CommentsSony has confirmed the launch its new PS3 Firmware 2.80 Update, which is now available today. Do not get too excited over the new update though, as it is just a basic update as no major additions or fixes have been issued in this latest firmware.
There are a handful of fixes though, this should help to improve performance of Trophy synchronization as well as increase the speed of XMB loads. According to The Examiner, they were still on conformation from Sony, but we have just learned that PS3 Firmware 2.80 Update has now gone live.
There is a rumor that the new update will bring with it a new feature to the messaging and game invite system; however, this has yet to be confirmed. All these firmware updates are now making the PS3 a better media streamer than Xbox 360.
