This time last week the iPhone OS 3.0 update was released, less then one week later the iPhone Dev Team have already figured out how to unlock the handset, they have named the unlock utility ‘ultrasn0w’ currently this will only work on the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G, however knowing how fast these guys work it shouldn’t be long until they figure out a way to unlock the iPhone 3GS.
For a full tutorial on how to unlock your iPhone/iPhone 3G running OS 3.0 check out IntoMobile. The new software created allows iPhone owners to run their phone on practically any GSM network.
One thing worth mentioning is that if you are running the iPhone on T–Mobile you will want to disable 3G before running the unlocking utility.
As mentioned above check out IntoMobile for full details and links to the required software.
