EA’s Site: Left 4 Dead 2 on PS3, Valve says Xbox 360 exclusive

PS3 owners were getting a little exited when over the weekend the EA Website listed that Left 4 Dead 2 would be coming to the Sony PS3 platform. However, since then that listing has now been removed, which leads us to believe that it was actually a typo.

Many PlayStation 3 owners still hope that Left 4 Dead 2 will still be coming to the platform and that EA just let the cat out of the bag early. However according to Xbox Evolved, Valve’s Doug Lombardi said, “That’s a typo. Check the trailer - ‘exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.’

Left 4 Dead 2 is the sequel to the popular Left 4 Dead game from Valve Corporation. The new game made its world premiere at E3 2009, during the Microsoft Press event a trailer was played just too wet the appetite of Xbox 360 users. Left 4 Dead 2 is due for release on November 17, 2009.

Correction you’re not smart enough Valve and you too Activision dumb CEO

  2. Stew says:

I don’t think PS3 owners were getting excited, only Xbox owners at the prospect of PS3 owners not getting it.

Anyone impartial can knows the console version of L4D sucked really badly compared to the PC version.

PS3 owners aren’t missing much at all. and frankly, looking at the exclusive PS3 lineup of titles, I would hate to be a Xbox only owner right now.

  3. Scarface3010 says:

I agree with Stew. Us PS3 owners have much more to look forward to than a crappy port. I say leave it a 360 exclusive and give them at least one game.

  4. wozza says:

How can a game be “exclusively on Xbox360 AND pc”???? Sorry Doug no cookie for you.

  5. Ray says:

Well Valve a few weeks ago essentially admited they suck and cant figure out how to develop for the PS3. So screw em. Lost money for them. Saved money for me.

  6. KC says:

I don\’t know why people think that PS3 owners desperately want this game. If Valve admittadely doesn\’t have Devs good enough, then it will probably suck anyway. Even on COD, I can only play zombies for so long. Besides, there are plenty of PS3 exclusives and even multiplats that I can\’t wait to play this year.

  7. Kane says:

what are you lot talking about “valve cant develop for ps3″ of course they can they dont want to dont try and twist words and ps3 owners clearly were excited because if you go on google and type in ps3 left 4 deead theres over a million searches so dont lie plus theres the ton of youtube videos you lot are such a bunch of fanboys

  8. OhSnap says:

Hahahaha, angry ps3 owners are funny, that’s right guys everyone is stupid except for sony.

    • Alex says:

Relax buddy. He just confirmed he just don’t know how to write multithreaded code.

“I have never written a single line of multithreaded code ever”.

  9. Mark says:

I’m really not bothered about this. I played L4D on my mates 360, and it was a turd, although he was really excited about it because it was a 360 exclusive… And that was really the only reason he was excited about it.

He cried when he saw the PC version…

Valve are lazy, NaughtyDog, Guerilla, hell even EA (who did Orange Box for PS3) and pretty much every developer on the planet now knows how to code for PS3, so it’s clearly either Valves bias or their incompetence, (considering Gabe Newell is ex-Microsoft, I suspect it’s the former)

    • Alex says:

It is not correct at all. Since PS3 dev. kit is not publicly available and is distributed only for large game-developer companies for a huge fee(10k$ per unit). If you do not believe me - try google search in order to find info how to get started as PS3 developer. I even haven’t found some link with the only framework description(Even if I just want to take a look on it.). So if you are not game developer already who’s working in such a company, you don’t know what features this device unveils to you. Is it using shaders or something else? OpenGL? Does it significantly differ from standard OpenGL? Even how to write hello-world for it. This info isn’t public.

  10. Kirin says:

Sorry xbox fanboys exclusive always better than multiplat, PS3 got more exclusives and better games than xbox coming months. You say we cry over for Valve games think again, his games all suck. Say Valve can program for PS3 then how come he gave it to EA to port orange box instead of not him doing it hahahahahaha? Dummy.
