Following our earlier report back in May regarding the latest in Asus’s sleek and slimmed down netbooks, we now have a hands-on review and unboxing of their latest product. To see the full review check out engadget.
Overall the general hardware and performance of the 1005HA is very similar to its predecessor (1008HA). One aesthetic difference they have smoothed out is that they have replaced the deep set ports with plastic covers used on the 1008HA with easier to access standard ports, although this makes it look slightly less sleek, from a functionality point of view it is an improvement.
The main improvement with this particular model compared to the 1008HA is that the battery holds a longer charge and is also removable, this allows users to replace the battery when it no longer holds its charge, or even carry a spare, but with a 10 hour advertised battery life this does not seem an issue.
All in all it shows Asus are heading in the right direction with their Eee PC range and the only mentionable drawback of buying this model is that it weighs slightly more, however we feel this is a fair compromise for the added battery life.
