Autocar have learned from a reliable source in Italy that the new Ferrari F450 will feature a range of enhanced technical specs. A number of the features have come direct from ideas from the Ferrari F1 car; let us hope that it is not the 2009 version.
Some of the new features taken from Ferrari’s F1 and GT racing programmes a include double-clutch seven-speed transaxle gearbox, radiators in front of the front wheels, understeer-cancelling software, and an upgraded version of the traction control from Scuderia.
The new car is also much lighter thanks to its lightweight aluminum structure; this means that the F450 is less rigid than the F430. The new design is part of Ferrari’s future thinking to help to improve the handling of their cars as well as reduce the emission of these supercars.
It is thought that the new Ferrari F450 will be unveiled at the LA Motor Show in December, but with something not seen on a Ferrari before, a future hybrid powertrain. Ferrari were missing from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, so will be nice to see them at the LA Motor Show.
