We all know that things are not going that great for Porsche, yes, they are still making money, but not as much as, they would like. Porsche have been looking at ways to shift more vehicles, and they think that they might have the answer. The German automaker will offer a more powerful and cheaper Boxster by using an Audi TTS engine.
The Audi TTS 2.0-liter engine produces 272 hp and 258 lb-ft; this is more powerful than the Boxter engine as it offers and extra 17 hp and 45 lb-ft of torque. According to Auto Motor & Sport, the Audi powered Boxter will drop from €46,500 ($64,000) down to €40,000 ($55,000), and that is a huge saving.
This could be a hard pill for Porsche fans to swallow, as they will not like the idea of no more Boxer engine, but AutoBlog does explain that they got over this with the Cayenne. Anyway, surely, if they were getting a Boxter with more power and a cheaper price tag, then they would jump at the chance to own one.
