IPhone 3.0 Activation Server Problems: is temporarily unavailable

IPhone 3.0 Activation Server Problems: is temporarily unavailable

By: Daniel Chubb | June 17, 2009 | 9 Comments

Following on from our post about the problems from last years major iPhone software update, we are hearing about the iPhone 3.0 upgraders getting an “Activation Server” error saying that it is temporarily unavailable.

No doubt this is down to the massive demand for the iPhone 3.0 software update, although many updaters have downloaded the new firmware hours ago thanks to getting there early.

Some of the reports from our users so far include: “Is anyone getting a message that the apple application server is down? It’s not letting me update

Help! I have downloaded 3.0 but when I try to sync my phone, I get an error message that says my phone cannot be updated at this time because the “activation server” is unavailable. Is it just busy or is there something I can do to solve the problem?

It downloaded my update with no problem, but when it goes to install my update I get this: “The iPhone ‘Matt’s iPhone’ cannot be updated at this time because the iPhone activation server is temporarily unavailable.”

The Quick Fix for the iPhone OS 3.0 update when you get the “iPhone Activation Server is Temporarily Not Available” message. Read on to find out more!

Trying to upgrade to iphone os 3.0? Are you getting the dreaded “iPhone activation server temporarily not available” message? There is a quick fix around it, providing you have already successfully downloaded the iPhone OS 3.0 Update from Apple. Either through iTunes or directly from the Apple.com web site.

You’ve been itching to get your hands on the newest and greatest iPhone OS 3.0 but you’re stuck at the error screen where iTunes tells you that you just can’t update right now. This is the dreaded message.

Well, there is good news. If you have already downloaded the update from iTunes or the Apple website, then it’s really quick and painless.

    1. Plug in your iPhone into yoru USB Port

    2. Select Update

    3. While on the Extracting screen for the update, quickly disconnect your internet

    4. Your iPhone and iTunes will not even try to check in with Apple because they realize you are in offline mode. This will enable the update to go through and load onto your iPhone

    5. Now, when it’s all done, you’ll be “stuck” in emergency mode. No worries. Just unplug your iPhone from the USB, turn your internet back on again, and plug the iPhone back into your USB port. It will be recognized and activated in just a second.

    6. Enjoy iPhone OS 3.0 and you are good to go

I am also getting the error “The iPhone software update server could not be connected.” I’m guessing that I’ll just have to wait awhile.

Mine began to load teh firmware, went thru almost entirely, but then came back with error:

The iPhone ”s iPhone” could not be activated because an unknown error occurred (OxE8000001). Please try again later.

Now the only thing on my iphone screen is “slide for emergency” – I have not tried sliding yet.. ;p
