Apple iPhone 3.0 release time rumors

Yesterday we posted information on the new iPhone 3.0 firmware update and asked “what’s the release time?”, today the update is still not available at the time of writing and rumors about the iPhone 3.0 release time are coming in.

Below are some of the tips we have received in relation to the new iPhone 3.0 software and when iPhone owners think it may be coming. Have a read and let us know if you have seen the update or know any solid information.

“Apple is located on the west coast, so the earliest you’ll see 3.0 go live is 3:00 am eastern time” It’s exactly what I thought.

I work for apple iphone and the software will not be released till tomorrow am 6am west coast time you should be able to start downloading 3.0 from itunes.

Apple never posts release times, I have noticed they launch mid morning to avoid an extreme server load, so people will download it as they get up and with the time zones it will help even out the server load.

I’m assuming it will be released at 12:00:01 AM PT, due to Apple HQ being in Cupertino, CA.

When I rang O2 in the UK earlier the man said the update was probably going to be online at 6pm (BST), 5pm (GMT)!

    I was on Yahoo Answers, and someone said that “..it is planned to be released at midnight. Expect it to first start coming around 12-1 A.M.”

    based on the recent finding that Singapore’s release date is the 18th and India’s release date is still the 17th for OS3 for the Iphone. I am predicting that the software will be available between noon and 130 pm tomorrow

    Been assured 100% by o2 customer service here in UK, that its gonna be 6pm GMT tonight before itunes UK enables update for 3.0.
    Makes sense to stagger the release to prevent huge server usage..

    so, im back off to bed. Stayed up farrrr too long for this f*#*#*g update!

    Rumour gong round that its been delayed till 18th June. Re-phoned o2 UK and they say thats true but not for UK customers!!

    THen again, o2 once told me that my name was Christina rather than Chris… and i most definatly sound like a man..

    2pm Central time in the US and I have it… sort of. My iPhone has updated to 3.0, but iTunes won\’t restore / activate the phone.
    Keeps saying \”We could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection timed out\”
    Guess the Apple servers are drowning again…

    What a LEMON – iPhone 3.0 downgrade

    The bad news is that the hyped download started at all. It would have been better had it not happened at all. Like so many, the useless voice memo app pushed all the other apps onto different pages. Equally, follow-on pages are full of blanks. Which bright spark decided to put the memo pad on page one?
    3.0 is more like putting a child in a sweet shop and saying NO! So it has an updated Bluetooth, oh please! What’s the point? More to the point what are Apple afraid of by not using defacto standard Bluetooth for mobiles. I guess the good news is the CABLE from the phone does work (please note I said CABLE a piece of wire to make a data transfer connection) which means when I take a photo at least I can grab it with my PC and use my PC to share it via Bluetooth. However, that doesn’t generate revenue for Telcos does it – oh some good news is the Skype app still works.
    I was really expecting something from 3.0, industry norms from Apple, but what I got was a messed up layout, the stupid assumption that I have Outlook (which should have been buried at birth) and more things that don’t work. Oh well, at least AudioBoo ( cool app ) is still fine and can be connected to my PC, via the line in cable I made, to record audio blogs.
    I really wanted to be excited by 3.0, the only thing that made my blood boil was Apple continuing to think that they know best. Maybe someone should send me an MP3, oh sorry that should be Quicktime NOT, of the Apple brainwashing hymn, and then maybe I’ll start to understand why my partners Nokia can do more than my iPhone and be happy about that.
