Xbox Live Down on June 16: Maintenance also for Zune

Today is June 16, 2009, which means that Microsoft’s Xbox Live will be down for maintenance, this means that there will not be Zune Social, Zune Marketplace or Zune.net forums in that time either. Other sections down include My Xbox on Xbox.com, and the forums will only be read only.
According to Blast Magazine, most of the other features of xbox.com will be available, with little or no interruptions. The maintenance is to start at 12:01AM PST, and could last anything up to 24 hours. Looks like Xbox Live users will have to spend a bit of time away from their Xbox 360 and spend some time with their family instead.
Try not to get too upset with Microsoft, as they are undertaking this maintenance to get ready for a number of new features, these include Facebook, last.fm and Twitter to the paid service. So just for waiting 24 hours, the rewards will certainly be worth it.

It kinda sucks, but it will be nice. Today I was supposed to have tennis lessons, but it’s raining, and my parents are at work for a while so I could have had some good time playing lone wolves, swat, and MLG on Halo 3….

Ya, I noticed that last night right around 1AM MST. After about 10 minutes of testing the internet connection I just accepted it and went to bed.

This is typical for Microsoft always sticking fingers in other peoples pies. Facebook and twitter are the degradation of modern society. I really applaud Microsoft for creating more of a social network of gamers more so then its competitors but teaming up with facebook…really?
“Rewards” my butt… like I want facebook, last.fm, or twitter on my xbox. It’s a game console; I want to play games on it.
I especially like how when I try to log in right now, instead of having a nice system that tells me it is down for maintenance, it instead tells me to test my connection, because something appears wrong with it. Then it tells me that my MTU is set to small, which is not true at all. They should stop focusing on added crappy features and get the damn thing to work right.
It almost 9:00 and xbox live is still offline. Also the entire xbox.com is down, no forums, nothing.

sick. good to know, I didnt realize why my xbl wasnt working and was doing a number of things to find out what was wrong with my connection.
Bummer, yeah well it is 12:24am 17 June 2009 and Live is still down. Why did they lie to me? How rude.
