Unveiled: Nokia 5530 XpressMusic release, specs and price

It seems as if Nokia are announcing new handsets every day, the phone maker has unveiled the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, and the guys over at IntoMobile have all the release and spec details, along with the expected price of the handset.

There have been a few rumors of the handset, but Nokia felt it was time to make an official announcement. The Nokia 5530 XM is an entry-level Symbian S60 5th edition handset so lacks 3G, but it still comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The new handset looks nicer looking than its bigger brother, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, The build quality is also better, thanks to its stainless steel frame. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic should be released in Europe by Q3 2009, and will have a price of EUR 199 EUR before taxes and subsidies.

  • Camera: 3.2 megapixels with autofocus and LED flash
  • Connectivity: High speed MicroUSB connector, 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, Bluetooth 2.0
  • Data connectivity: GPRS/EDGE, WLAN (IEEE 802.11 b/g)
  • Dimensions: 104 x 49 x 13 mm
  • Display: 2.9 inch widescreen (640 x 360 pixels) with up to 16 million colors
  • Memory: Up to 70Mb phone memory with 4GB in-box MicroSD card, supports up to 16GB MicroSD memory
  • Music playback: Up to 27 hours
  • Standby time: Up to 14 days
  • Talk time: Up to 4.9 hours
  • Video capture: widescreen 640x 360 px up to 30 frames-per-second
  • Video playback: Up to 7.3 hours
  • Weight: 107 g

    I have a friend who has a 5800, and I have the 5530. Both are good phones (: I prefer the 5530 in looks and size, and i find that the touch responds faster on the 5530 - but that’s probably because it’s the newer model. Either way, I think both are good phones, but if you don’t want to spend loads on phones, then the 5530 is very, very similar.
