O2 Smiling: New iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre UK
By: Peter Chubb | June 16, 2009 | 2 CommentsWe reported a few weeks back that the Palm Pre will be coming to the UK on the O2 network, but would not be released until Christmas. According to SoftPedia, the Pre will now arrive earlier than expected; the launch date will be in September. O2 will certainly be smiling then, as they will have the two hottest phones on the market, the Palm Pre and the Apple iPhone 3GS.
The Palm Pre launch was not the best that could have been hoped for, as there was not enough handset made for the launch. There have also been a few glitches with the software, but we are certain that Palm will have a firmware update to patch these bugs.
The iPhone 3G S is to launch in most countries on June 19, and there are already reports that all pre-orders have sold out. Apple will also release its new Apple iPhone OS 3.0 on June 17, and this is expected to bring 100 new features to the iPhone.
This is a major deal for O2, and means that they will have a huge advantage over their rivals. The Palm Pre should be an even better phone when it comes to the UK, as all of the bugs that the U.S. customers have, would have been fixed by the time it travels across the Atlantic.
