The Apple iPhone 3GS: OS 3.0 first then consider upgrade

On June 19 Apple iPhone O2 customers will have the choice to upgrade to the new iPhone 3G S handset, but as there is this whole upgrade issue going on customers are unsure what to do. If we were to offer our advice, we would say that you should upgrade to the new iPhone 3.0 OS first then consider the upgrade once you have spent some time with the new features.

However if you still own the first-generation iPhone, then you should not wait, just go ahead and upgrade to iPhone 3G S on June 19. There are some huge jumps in the hardware from the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS, but not as big of a step as the original iPhone to the iPhone 3G.

The new iPhone 3.0 OS comes with 100 new features and will make the iPhone 3G an even greater handset, and this could be enough for O2 customers to see out their remaining contract and then upgrade to the newer handset.

So do not go ahead and upgrade to the new iPhone 3G S just wait until June 17 download the iPhone 3.0 OS and spend about a week with the new software. Then you can decide if you think that the improvements made will keep you going for another few months.

Does any know how much it would cost the upgrade to the new phone? I have the 2nd gen iphone and still have 1 1/2 left on the 2 year contract.

    • Franky says:

It would be around $600+, at least in the US with AT&T. Thats how much it is offered on the Apple/AT&T site without a contract.

  2. Sean says:

What you can do is pay a 200 dollar cancellation fee for the 2 year contract and then renew contract and get the new 3gs for 200 and then you will be spending about 400 but yet you save 200 off the retail cost of the phone
