Bit-tech are claiming that Intel is planning to release a new Nehalem processor with six-cores, they expect to launch the new chip in the same timeframe as the Lynnfield/P55, which as we know will be ready for launch later this year.
This latest Intel chip will feel right at home once it slots into an X58/LGA1366 motherboard with the help of a small bios update. Intel have said that most board manufacturers have already added support for the new six-core Nehalem processors, so there is no need to worry if your board is right for the new chip.
This new processor will sit alongside Intel’s Core i7 975, Intel have said that they plan to discontinue every other Core i7 CPU later in 2009. We are not certain what Intel have named the chip, but it seems unlikely that they will go with the Core i7 name.
Intel has not given a specific release date, and pricing details will come much closer to the release date.
