New iPhone 2009 Revisited: OS 3.0 and 3G S
By: Peter Chubb | June 10, 2009 | 5 CommentsMonday was the start of the WWDC 2009, and Apple kicked of its keynote with some amazing products. The only thing that people wanted to know was if they were launching a new iPhone, and the answer was yes. The new handset is to be called the iPhone 3G S and the new OS 3.0 will help to make the new phone a huge success.
Cnet reviews thought that they would go over some of the new features of the new operating system for the iPhone. Apple reckons that the update will offer 100 new features, with some only working on the new iPhone 3G S.
We now know that iPhone OS 3.0 will be released on June 17, one feature that we have been waiting for is MMS and tethering, but AT&T will not launch this feature until the summer. The new software will be available for the iPhone 3G, iPhone Classic, and iPod Touch users. Then just two short days after that we will get our hands on the new iPhone 3G S.
Some of us will wait to see out our contract, as it would work out so expensive for customers, as they will have to pay to end their contract as well as the price of the handset itself. Read more about that in our article about the upgrade nightmare.
Of the 100 or so new features of iPhone OS 3.0 there were only a handful that we were interested in, those include Multimedia messaging, Landscape keyboard, Cut, copy, and paste, upgrade of iTunes, Turn-by-turn directions, Find my iPhone, Full search, Tethering, Push notification and much more.
