Fiat cars in US after Chrysler deal is done
By: Peter Chubb | June 10, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe reported in an earlier post that the deal with Chrysler and Fiat was allowed to proceed; the deal with both automakers is now done. This means that the Italian automaker now own a majority of Chrysler’s assets. Fiat will now plan to open most of Chrysler’s factories by June; Chrysler now faces a much brighter future.
Kicking Tires said that we have to look to Fiat to see what cars they will offer in the future, we will expect to see a range of new small cars, which will help plug a gap in the hole that was left by Chrysler, as they did not offer a great selection of small models in the US.
Chrysler will work with Fiat to adapt their cars so that they meet with U.S. emissions standards and safety requirements. 1983 was the last time that a Fiat was sold new in the U.S., so Fiat are getting a great deal as they are about to hit America once more.
