
After General Motors Bankruptcy: AT&T Exec Ed Whitacre

Whitacre now has the tough job of leading GM out of bankruptcy, this is going to be a tough job, but the former Exec of AT&T is defiantly up for the job.
Whitacre will take a close look at GM’s business and restructure the automaker, helping it to come out of bankruptcy as early as the summer. Information Week reports that Kent Kresa, the GM interim chairman announced the appointment of Whitacre.
Ed Whitacre Jr., retired from AT&T less than two years ago, this was after he took over Southwestern Bell (SBC) in 1990. He then forged it into the world’s largest telecommunications company by market capitalization. He then changed the name of the company to SBC and then started to acquire other companies, such as Ameritech, Pacific Telesis, SNET, andBellSouth (BLS). Read the full article here
