The launch of the Palm Pre on Sprint, which was going to be the most widely anticipated electronic device of the year until Apple decided to announce its new iPhone 3G S, has set a new sales record for the network carrier. By late on Sunday 7 June, the Palm Pre broke the previous first day sales for previous devices on Sprint.
According to Business Wire, many consumers were lined up outside Sprint stores to get their hands on the device, as it offers much more value for money than the iPhone 3G on the AT&T network does. Sprint’s Simply EverythingSM plan is thought to save its customers at least $1200 over a comparable monthly plan on AT&T.
The honeymoon period for the Palm Pre will be short lived though, although the Pre is enjoying success now Palm did not know that Apple were working on a new handset. Palm had built the Pre and added a few extras in which the iPhone 3G did not have.
Apple have responded to this with its new iPhone 3G S. The Smartphone has seen an upgrade in most areas, and with the addition of the new iPhone OS 3.0, it will become the handset to beat once again. View specs of the new iPhone 3G S.
