The news that the new PSP Go will do away with the need for a physical game in favor of offering games as a digital download has filled retailers with rage. These retailers think that the writing is now on the wall for them.
According to Sankaku Complex, those who are in the retail industry have expressed consternation at the move, some retailer say that they had deluded themselves, when they thought they were partners for Sony, but they are merely a distribution channel for products. This is certainly a sad day for retailers, but the Sony PSP Go had to move gaming to a digital format as this helps to drive down costs. On another note, it is far better for the environment not to produce games on the UMD format, there is less plastic being used.
Do you agree with the retailers rage on the PSP Go, or are you happy about just having downloadable games?

I can see why the retailers a peeved off, as Sony have cut out the middle man but will charge full retail price. It’s not good for retailers or the customer. I may be wrong but I think the PSP go will fail unless Sony can seriously adjust their extortionately high price point, in which the consumer is paying more and getting much, much less.
Erm.. Retailers are just distribution channels isnt that their sole purpose… They would soon shaft sony if another product more profit making or had bigger potential..
The consumer should now expect cheaper games which will position them to compete with Nintendo and or course apple..
What a joke !!! All the investment I have made in my previous PSP games, and there is no way to transfer them to the new PSP GO. Who are the clever gurus in Sony that make these decisions ? Sony - you are dreaming. Why would anyone buy a PSP GO ? Interesting to see that Nedgame has decided to boycott the PSP GO. Sony, you had such a good opportunity to embrace the gamer industry, but through greed & stupidity, you have failed miserably.
