Sony PS3 Price Cut News: rumors point to August 2009

Following on from the disappointment of no PS3 price cut at E3 2009, it has been rumored that Sony are planning to cut the price of the Playstation 3 by $100 this coming August.

That’s according to GameDaily, who have reported that the price cut will happen mid-August, round the time of release for Madden as well as the upcoming GamesCom event.

It’s fair to say that consumers still believe that the price of the PS3 console is too expensive, so with all the previous price rumors, maybe August will be the perfect time for Sony to cut the price once and for all.

Do you think Sony will introduce a $100 price cut this August? Let us know your thoughts on this.

First it was a price cut in April, then at E3, then before Christmas, now in August. If anybody has any more price cut predictions, October is still open.

Jack it is not fair to make the most sagacious comment before the rest of us have a chance to pontificate! Jack wins no need for further comment.

some website already selling ps3 for 50 dollar cheaper. so another 50 would be sweet or i think it just 50 bucks.

I still don’t understand why people get so upset when it comes to ps3 price drops is it they are jelous because they ended up paying 200-300 dolars less that what people are going to pay if they do a price drop or is it because they are tired of hearing the same over and over still if Sony wants to recover from the horrible sales they have been going trough the best time to do it is this year before fall

I have already spent $750 on two ps3’s and have been disappointed because both of them have had to be sent in for repairs. Sony does need a major price cut because a lot of people that buy it are forced to cash out another $150 to fix them. If Sony wants to keep selling a console for $300 than they either better make it more reliable and dependable or either make the repair free of charge!

I have also heard that SONY is supposed to drop the price of the PS3 in august ‘09..I to have purchased a PS3 and have sent it back 3 times to have it repaired and finally on the 3rd time,i just got a full refund..Sony never sends you back the one you sent it..If you do send it to them for repairs, write down the model # and or seriel # to make sure you get back the one you sent..I think thats what happned to me

  6. Cliffo says:

well i went into best buy about to buy my second ps3 because my old one the blue ray player burned out. but i got a check back form the company(whatever company bought out circuit city) to buy a new one cuz i bought a warrenty thank god! but a dude at best buy told me that a sony rep came in a few days ago saying in august the ps3 would drop $100 and they will realease a new 120 gb slim ps3 sometime before halloween. he told me if his boss caught him telling me this he would be in trouble but since he doesnt get paid commission he didnt care to tell me.

so if this isnt proof idk what is

If they were to drop the price they’d better do it by August. There are three times of the year when they need sales competition, the beginning of school. Christmas, and the end of school. The PS3 is suffering, and if Sony doesn’t get their head out of their ass they’ll have won the format war, and lost the console war. Anyone who would’ve shelled out $400 or more has done so already, they need to market to a knew crowd. The rumors are also killing them, if everyone is expecting a price-cut sales will eventually come to a stop.

I just hope Sony really cuts the price since my PS3 got the Yellow light error, and it’s better to buy a new one than getting it repaired.
