It came as no surprise that Apple announced the launch of the iPhone 3G S at the WWDC 2009, but there was no shortage of news throughout the keynote. We were treated to some details of the new MacBooks as well as details of the final Snow Leopard, and finally a release date for the iPhone OS 3.0 which is June 17.
There were good and bad points about the event though, the first was the fact that AT&T and its iPhone upgrade pricing. This has certainly left a bitter taste in AT&T iPhone customers.
The good news was that the new iPhone OS 3.0 would be free to current iPhone owners, but the features of the video recording and voice control will only be made available on the new iPhone 3G S. The upgrade price for Snow Leopard is just $29, instead of the usual price of $129. The normal 8GB iPhone 3G will now cost just 99 for new AT&T subscribers, this should help it sell a few more handsets.
Engadget felt the need to point out some of the bad points; one is the fact that iPod Touch owners will have to pay $9.95 to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0. The name iPhone 3G S is not exactly the best name Apple could have went with.
