New iPhone: More changes in 3.0 software than hardware
By: Daniel Chubb | June 8, 2009 | Leave a CommentIf we jump on the new iPhone rumors train, then it seems that there will undoubtedly be a new 2009 iPhone at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2009.
What changes could we expect in a new iPhone? The rumors seem to suggest that there will be more changes in the iPhone 3.0 software than in the hardware. Information Week has wrote a 4-page article that focuses on new iPhone expectations, and they also feel that “the biggest change for the iPhone will be its software”.
The iPhone hardware rumors suggest a slightly improved camera, better battery life, a slightly faster CPU, although looking at this leaked photo and rumor, it seems the size and shape of the new iPhone may be very subtle.
Apple’s iPhone 3.0 firmware update – should be fully unveiled later today in San Francisco – seems to be a major change. Improvements will include push notification for applications and copy, cut and paste.
Multiplayer gaming has needed a network connection currently, but it’s reported that the new iPhone 3.0 software would include peer-to-peer connectivity over Bluetooth. This means developers can write multiplayer games that work without a network connection, and will help the iPhone become more important to gamers.
The iPhone will also become more important to the business user thanks to peer-to-peer connections allowing for exchanging of data directly, this can include electronic business cards.
