Apple’s iPhone 3Gs Sold vs Palm Pre Supplies
By: Daniel Chubb | June 8, 2009 | 3 CommentsSo just how did the Palm Pre first weekend of sales stack up against the Apple’s iPhone 3Gs? Its good to compare these results to a certain degree, considering that the Palm Pre is meant to be an iPhone killer.
The results showed that Palm Pre customers were looked after really well by the staff at Sprint stores in an organized manner, although the Pre supplies were very low.
Bloomberg reports that “less than 100,000 phones may have sold over the weekend”, and when you compare this to Apple selling around 1 million iPhone 3Gs in the first three days, there is no comparison.
The Pre should be seen to restore Palm’s reputation as a mobile-phone innovator, but not as any real competition to the Apple iPhone, especially considering the chances of a new iPhone at WWDC 2009 and new iPhone OS 3.0 software.
It can be debated that the Palm Pre may compete with the iPhone hardware, but when it comes to marketing and sales, Apple win hands down.
