Apple’s iPhone 3Gs Sold vs Palm Pre Supplies

So just how did the Palm Pre first weekend of sales stack up against the Apple’s iPhone 3Gs? Its good to compare these results to a certain degree, considering that the Palm Pre is meant to be an iPhone killer.

The results showed that Palm Pre customers were looked after really well by the staff at Sprint stores in an organized manner, although the Pre supplies were very low.

Bloomberg reports that “less than 100,000 phones may have sold over the weekend”, and when you compare this to Apple selling around 1 million iPhone 3Gs in the first three days, there is no comparison.

The Pre should be seen to restore Palm’s reputation as a mobile-phone innovator, but not as any real competition to the Apple iPhone, especially considering the chances of a new iPhone at WWDC 2009 and new iPhone OS 3.0 software.

It can be debated that the Palm Pre may compete with the iPhone hardware, but when it comes to marketing and sales, Apple win hands down.

    This is why apple fail at everything that’s great! They first dominate the market with a unique piece of technology, take the world by storm and then forget what it is that got them there in the first place, never ever listen to what people really want. So they just fall behind and their products just become expensive paper weights. They should have really listened to what people wanted and expected. VerySad

    my only response to that is that people are always so bent when apple doesn’t do what YOU want them to do with their product. the fact is that the iphone is APPLE’s… they can do what they want with it. if it doesn’t have the features you want then go buy a pre. apple has already proven that the don’t need your advice to sell millions upon millions of phones. don’t be so shocked that the don’t jump on every idea that pops out of your head. the fact is that they don’t have to.

    Really? Says who? If Palm has anything to say about this, they categorically denied it BTW.
