WWDC 2009: Should Steve Jobs upstage Phil Schiller?

There are two things that we hope we get to see at WWDC 2009, and that is a new iPhone and also Steve Jobs. There have been rumors for weeks now of a new 2009 iPhone making an appearance at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2009, and just recently it will be Jobs who will kick the keynote off.

The Economic Times have been talking to Gartner analyst Van Baker, and said that the his gut was telling him that Apple will showcase a new iPhone and Snow Leopard and that Steve Jobs could make a cameo at the event. However, Jobs might decide to keep away for this event, as he might not want to upstage Phil Schiller.

Schiller had to step in and take the place of Jobs at Macworld back in January, after Jobs was suffering from ill health and needed to take time off to get some much needed rest. There have been reports that Steve is getting better all the time, but he should not rush his recovery.

It is so hard to know if Steve Jobs should upstage Phil Schiller, but if we were to see a new iPhone for 2009, then what better way than to have Steve Jobs telling us all about, that and share prices in Apple would increase.

    Stay Home, Steve!

Anything more than a passing utterance of his name will overshadow the whole keynote. SJ showing up wouldn’t just upstage Phil, it would upstage EVERYTHING - and that’s not good for business. Mr. Jobs may be an excellent showman, but he’s an even better CEO. I expect him to do press for the 3rd gen iPhone, but I hope WWDC will be Jobs-free.
