Cheaper New iPhone: Lite version rumored for sale Monday
By: Peter Chubb | June 7, 2009
As we all know tomorrow is the start of the WWDC 2009, which is when Apple will become the talk of the town. Apple know that they have to do something to try and steal the thunder from Palm and its Pre handset, and rumors of a Lite version Apple iPhone making a showing on Monday could do just that.
It is not sure if it will be called an iPhone Lite, or even an iPhone Nano, but according to FT, this could be the surprise that Steve Jobs could make. Yes, you heard correct, we reported in a recent post that Steve Jobs could make an early return to Apple, and what better time than with the launch of an iPhone aimed at those with a lower budget.
Currently Apple only have an 11 percent share in the cell phone market, and it is the price and the lack of different handsets that stop them increasing. The decision for Apple to offer an affordable iPhone would certainly help them bridge the gap to the likes of Nokia, who currently have a market share of 41 percent. Appleās first target would have to be RIM, who has a 20 percent market share with their BlackBerry range.
Keep visiting us tomorrow to see if Apple does sucker punch Palm.
