Palm Pre and iTunes: An iPod in Media Sync mode

As some of you may or may not know, the Palm Pre has a feature which allows support for Apple’s iTunes. But it has been confirmed recently that while the Pre is in Media Sync mode, it identifies itself as an ‘Apple iPod’, rather than a Pre.

Head over to Nanocr.eu to see the images for yourself. It is the Mass Storage device that reads itself as an Ipod, but the root USB node (IOUSBDevice) still identifies the device as a Palm Pre.

It’s uncertain now, whether Apple will choose to block this once they are aware of this process,a method which is easily done by updating iTunes.
