When Palm announced its new Smartphone, the Pre back in January all consumers wanted to know was, when would the handset be released. The Palm Pre will launch on Saturday June 6, and it is all ready to take the battle to the iPhone. But will this be short lived, with news that a new Apple iPhone for 2009 will be announced at WWDC 2009, could this steal Palm Pre’s thunder?
For months, the Pre has built up a huge amount of hype, but rumors of a new iPhone started to surface and this was dealt as a huge blow to Palm. The handset maker is putting a lot of faith in the new handset and so is Sprint, so what will happen if a new iPhone does launch in the summer.
The Palm Pre certainly looks to be a very sexy phone and its new WebOS has been going down well, making the phones functions very smooth. As we know Apple is about to launch its new iPhone3.0 OS and if that was mated to a new iPhone with a larger processor, more RAM and storage as well as a camera and video camera, then it looks as though the battle with the Pre would be over before it has begun.
Do you think the news of a new iPhone 2009 steal Palm Pre’s thunder?

1. If you consider the little poppers you used to throw on the ground when you were a kid at 4th of July because your parents didn’t think you were big enough to handle M80’s the sound of Palm’s “thunder” then yes, the thunder will be stolen. In my opinion, Palm has been dead, a long time. There is no thunder to be stolen. Sorry Palm. You waited way too long to make anything better than a digital day planner.
Let’s not forget the personal nature of the iPhone/Pre battle… I mean to say CEO Titan Steve Jobs vs. Apple defector Jonathan Rubinstein (former iPod developer). This should be an interesting fight! Reminds me of those after school matchups in the school parking lot.
