BenQ’s Android Smartphone
By: Peter Chubb | June 5, 2009 | Leave a CommentBenQ is planning to launch a new Smartphone and netbook that will run on the popular Google Android OS next year. BenQ’s announcement adds them to an ever-growing list of companies that are making or planning to make devices to run on the latest operating system.
This latest news shows that another company decided not to choose Microsoft Windows; this is a further blow to Microsoft as it seems that they are losing ground to their competition. Android was developed by Google and was first used on its G1 handset, the OS is thought to make web browsing and communications easier than ever.
According to MacWorld, BenQ are already in the netbook business, but under the name Joybook Lite. These netbooks currently run on Windows XP, their smartphones currently run on Symbian OS. BenQ were contenders a few years back in the cell phone market but have lost ground over the years, this latest news is in the hope of them rebuilding its name.
