BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (NSDQ: RIMM) has announced that they have purchased Dash Navigation, RIM have not disclosed how much they paid for the company. It is obvious why Research In Motion would want to purchase Dash Navigation, as they used to produce GPS-based navigation units.
Information Week thought that they would treat us to a little history lesson, which is great for those who are not familiar with Dash Navigation. The company made Dash Express, which is a small GPS unit, but in November Dash decided that it was time to stop producing these small devices, choosing to license its devices instead.
Since then we have not heard much from the company that is until now. RIM have not said what it will do with the company yet, but you can bet that they have something planned, what that is we do not know we will just have to wait and see.
