Shane Kim from Microsoft has said that the system that makes up Project Natal for the Xbox 360 has been in development for some time now, and has said that acquisition of 3DV had no influence on the motion detection technology.
Microsoft’s announcement of Project Natal at its E3 2009 press conference has been the talk of the convention, many assumed that Natal’s technology and 3DV’s were both the same thing, but Kim has told VentureBeat that they have been working on the technology for some time now.
The news that Microsoft has built the technology in house shows that they can certainly develop hardware just as good if not better than Sony can now. In a recent survey about which company made the biggest impression at E3 2009, the voting proved one thing, Microsoft made its competition look foolish.
