Sony’s PSP Go: Overpriced or spot on?

Sony’s PSP Go: Overpriced or spot on?

By: Peter Chubb | June 3, 2009 | 5 Comments

E3 2009 has already given us so much information to digest, and one of the hottest pieces of news was the rumored Sony PSP Go. There were rumors that the new handheld was coming, and Sony verified it yesterday, but is the new device spot on or overpriced.

That is just one question that Engadget have asked its users, so we thought we would ask ours the same question. We reported in an earlier post that the PSP Go would sell for $249.99; many believe that this is expensive for old hardware.

Engadget have asked its users a number of questions on the Sony PSP Go, and the most popular one seems to be “Don’t own a gaming handheld, and this won’t win me over.” I selected “I want one, but it’s too expensive. Maybe after a price drop.” Seems like I have it all wrong on that one, as out of six questions, that was down id fifth place.

Let us know if you think that the Sony PSP Go is overpriced or spot on.

It’s way too expensive, in the UK it’s going to be £215 – equal to a keenly priced PS3, a Wii and one game and 2 well priced standard PSPs. It’s an updated version of my launch PSP – which takes UMDs, stores plenty of data on my cheap 8gb memory card and cost less than £215 when it was released 3 or 4 years ago.

Another Sony failure – what happened?

I agree completely. £215 is daylight robbery for the PSP Go!, given that we are in recession! If it had a slick touchscreen interface, i’d maybe consider it. I still have my original PSP from launch, and I always play DJ Max on it, when travelling. It will do for now, so definately not buying the PSP Go! at that price.

Game is selling the Black PSP Go! for £179.99. So if you want one for cheaper go and order one now.

i agree too it does basicly all the psp 3000 can do and but it can slide up, the creen is smaller and it cant take umds i still have the orriginal psp and i think ill wate until the psp2 comes out becuase i have alreay brought lots of games on UMD and if i download them onto the psp go again i will be spending more money and if the psp breaks i have lost all that money i have spent.
