Microsoft had its day yesterday when they announced Project Natal for the Xbox 360, which does away with the need to use a conventional controller; instead, you become the controller, read more about it in a recent post. Today it was Sony’s turn and they have announced the PS3 Motion Controller.
When you start to read up on the two systems, it becomes evident that they have taken what Nintendo have done with the Wii and gone a step further. However, when you look at the PS3 Motion Controller compared to the Xbox 360 Project Natal, you can clearly see that Microsoft looks to be a far better system.
For a full review on the PS3 Motion Controller, then head over to Cnet News, as they were on hand at E3 2009, they said that, as Sony was the last to go from the big three, all the pressure was on them to come up with the goods.
One thing is certain, E3 will be remembered as being the motion demo show, but which one gets your vote, Project Natal from Microsoft, Wii Motion Plus from Nintendo, or the PlayStation Motion Controller from Sony.

Alot of ignorance commenting here. Read up on Project Natals tech, and then come back and try to argue that it’s like Eyetoy. That way you will graduated from babbling idiot to intentional liar.
Natal looks good but it may not happen exactly the sam becose ITS A CONSEPT the PS3 Motion is allredy in proto type
OH MY GOD! Are you guys nuts? Eyetoy!!!!!!! PS2!!!!!!!! AKA you guys saying that Sony is ripping off the wii with the wiimote is like saying Microsoft is ripping of the PS2 with the Eyetoy.
God you guys can’t get anymore stupid can you!?! And in my personal opinion, the EyeToy is better, as stated at E3, you need buttons.
Plus, using your voice in “Project Natal” is just stupid.
You can’t use it at night.
I recommend you read up on project Natal’s technology before you call it a rip off of the eye-toy or that it cannot function during “night”.
It uses not only a camera but also a 3D depth sensor, and it’s microphone is extremely intelligent as it can pinpoint the direction of a sound source. It also will work in “low light” conditions because of the depth sensor.
Neither are “Rip-offs”. They are further developments within their technology areas, the same as the Eye-toy was (as in it wasn’t an original idea but a further development and commercialisation of a technology).
PS3 motion control is just a Wii controller with the use of camera which will work on both hands. Natal works full body. This is well improvement by MS not just copy paste by Sony. I think, as a PS3 fanboy, I got too ashamed when I meet my 360 friends. Who say MS only copy paste, Sony does also. Its just wii control with a light which seems like a sex toy. I have to admit MS pulled something extraordinary. I guess, If someone want to play with motion control, they gonna play Wii instead of PS3. and about the Milo..well, we see science fiction movie that in future we have a AI, then this is the start.. may be buggy first time but will be great in future. Sony put motion on their control when they see Nintendo doing at first and not copying with some extra feature..while MS do R&D and show us some magic. I think, MS strategy is better than Sony.
In response to all of you Natal haters I really think you had your eyes closed the whole time because a game without buttons is totally possible with the technology that Natal brags about. For a first person shooter all you have to do is pretendto hold a gun with one hand and move your finger on the trigger with the other. With the accuracy of the Natal it can pick up even the smallest movements. Using sign language people have been able to communicate with their hands and have defined an entire language. I think just by moving our hands and body in a game we can tell the game to do anything that a regular controller can accomplish. The Natal also has voice recognition that you can tell the game what you need like a weapon change or to reload your ammo.
You were also talking about how early in the stages the Natal was in developement, well if you watch the tech demos which one looks better? The Sony demo looked crappier with its low graphics and showing technology that the wii could already accomplish since it\’s release. I know you might think it has better tracking but wii also came out with the wiimotion plus that looks equivalant to the tech Sony showed but they are releasing that this summer. I would like some examples of why the sony controller is better than the Wiimotion plus because why would I fork any more money over for somthing that the wii can accomplish. The only advantage to the system, not the controller, is that the PS3 has better graphics but if you have seen The Conduit for Wii you can tell tht the wii has come a long way.
Both are in development and if anything sony has more to prove to customers because if you want a motion controller to waggle in front of your tv you already have a wii but if you would like to try a a true next gen experience without a controller and buttons, people will want to try the Natal.
dude seriously people need to stop acting like playstation eye never existed. All Sony has to do is write a code and the ps eye can do face recognition. It already has a built in microphone. Natal is not ground breaking at all, in fact, 360 owners who bought a vision cam now have to throw it away. Let’s face Sony’s motion controller is Wii motion plus(plus) that’s all. I’m a ps3 owner but look at the facts, Microsoft is in a better position to steal Wii install base. The 360 is cheaper than the Wii and has a larger library. We all know microsoft is going to actually introduce a controller for it. There you have it people. Cheaper than the Wii, better graphics, easier way to meet up with friends, and netflix. The instant 1080p thing is a freaking joke, anyone with a brain knows that’s not possible (atleast yet). Sony won’t stand a chance until it drops that price point.
Natal has Three dimensional face and body recognition, plus due to its advanced microphone with a little bit of coding it can recognise voice “tone” as shown in the Milo video.
No amount of coding will enable the Eyetoy to do either of these things.
Please learn to research before assuming you know how a product “works” and that it is immediately the same as another.
As has been said by some of the posters here, but seems to have been missed by the video games press, is that Natal does nothing that can’t be done on the EyeToy. There’s absolutely no reason why Milo wouldn’t work on the PS3, although I don’t know if there’s a market for a paedo-sim on any console (or at least I hope there isn’t).
Also, didn’t anyone actually notice how flaky the whole Natal thing is? In the mocked-up videos it was working perfectly, but when the guy was interacting with his Mii (or whatever they’re called on 360), it was spazzing out.
The biggest question is why Microsoft doesn’t realise that Natal won’t attract a single new gamer to the system?
I nevered really appreciated the wii due to almost being knocked out when watching my friends play baseball. You know when yall swing wildly.
Now you have xbox adding the ability for people to kick your head off.
It used to be only the thumbs that get buised when you play games. Now you can get black eyes and broken ribs from playing. Playing games are becoming physically unsafe. LOL
Seriously, Sony and Nintindo just Shat themselves, M$ took a concept(motion control) an took it a miles beyond anything in the past. These 2(sony,Nintindo) brought us controllers that haven’t truly advanced motion gaming in anyway. You have to be a fanboy to not see Natal is nothing like Eyetoy and a <18yo idiot who does not see the tech behind such a device. State of the art motion control, and 3-d recognition software that has never been seen outside the military is coming to a 360 distributer near you.
Sony saying you “need” a controller is like damn we Fucked up bad and had no idea M$ would do something other than Replicate wii’s success with a motion controller.
Did you guys not fully understand the Milo Demontrastion, it not only recognized the “FUCKING TONE” of her voice, but scanned and seen that she was down!!! and it did this at least 2-3 times during the demo. when he reached up and grabbed that paper which look to be the same size and shape and COLOR or the paper she held i left the room.
Natal is 3-D recognition, which she probably could have handed him a basketball, baseball maybe even a marble, hell been better and hilarious is she handed him a wii and a Ps3 and he chucked them into the pond and said what do you need those for you have a 360 and Natal
to address more idiotic comments, Saying instant HD isnt possible, and a joke shows your a fail idiot who cant seem to understand that technological advances double about every 6 months. 1080p streaming takes about a 12.5mbps downstream and with most companies pretty much offering 15mbps as basic downstream speed it easily possible.
Natal and its software have probably been in development as soon as nintindo announced the wii and to say that anyone of them will come close by next e3 or 3years from now is and idiot. M$ has both the money and resources unlike sony to continually advance their tech, and software.
One thing sony has a track record of doing is designing SKU after SKU of a system and then peripherals parent compatible with each one. happened when psx went to ps1 ps2 went to slim psp went to slim and sure to go will do something both those don’t,and for ps3 the just dropped the whole idea, how do you make a system with a hard drive that has to do a mandatory install for the majority of its game and not have the ability to buy and extra hard drive; maybe you fanboys don’t know you cant ever buy a new hard drive for your ps3. glad it doesn’t have many AAA or decent game titles to chose from or their would actually be some complaints on this issue.
It is up to the game developer to require an install. You can upgrade your PS3 hard drive. It is that Sony just did not mandate you buy the new hard drive from them. The PS3 is compatible with just about any 2.5-inch SATA notebook harddisk.
To say the PS3 does not have many AAA or decent game is an opinion. There are games I would lover to play on PS3 ,360 and the Wii it is just I am not made out of money and must pick the ones that interest “me” the most. As i am a hobby gamer and can not spent too much on time or money on it.
Now back to topic. Both have there ups and downs it all depends on how the games look and fill.
