E3 2009 Winner: Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo?
By: Alan Ng | June 3, 2009
With the Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony E3 press conferences all wrapped up, focus now switches to opinions on ‘Which company had the best showing?’ All three had huge announcements to reveal, so what are your thoughts on this?
Let’s start off with Microsoft. No doubt that their biggest announcement was Project Natal. No-one had ever seen that kind of technology before and it left everyone wanting more. Secondly, was the announcement of Metal Gear Solid: Rising for the Xbox 360. Thirdly and by no means least important, after a showing of Halo 3: ODST, there was a reveal for a brand new Halo game titled Halo: Reach.
As for Nintendo, they unveiled their Wii Vitality Sensor which attaches to your fingertip and can measure your pulse and vital body stats. Then, there was announcements for Wii Fit Plus, Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario Bros. Wii and an awesome looking new Metroid game developed by Team Ninja.
Sony’s conference took place last of the three and they had some interesting details to reveal too. Sadly, most of Sony’s announcements were leaked before E3, so it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when they were revealed. These included PSP Go!, PS3 Motion Control ( Although we saw it in the flesh for the first time) and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for Sony PSP.
We had already heard rumors on an upcoming MMO from Square-Enix, but no-one expected it to be Final Fantasy XIV and a PS3 exclusive on top. There was also news on another PS3 exclusive from Rockstar titled ‘Agent’, an all-new Resident Evil game designed for the PSP Go!, Gran Turismo PSP details, God of War III details, MAG details and a confirmation of Lost Planet 2 on the PS3.
So that’s all the top stories so far from this year’s E3, links galore. We say so far, as the event is still ongoing and there may be more announcements to come.
Who do you think has had the best E3 and why? State your reasons below.

Microsoft blew away everyone. I am a sony fanatic but after this im convinced to buy a 360. Facebook, twitter, project Natal, all great inevations. Plus the new exclusives such as Halo 3: ODST, Halo:Reach, Splinter Cell conviction, Forza motorsport 3, left for dead 2 all look great and i’m going to buy a 360 with my next paycheck.
The sad thing about all of this is, well, people who buy the ps3 have to savagely justify the huge hunk of cash they had to pay to get the console and thus cling to the delusion that as the PS3 is by far the most expensive and GLORIOUSLY SHINY, sony is therefore the best, unconditionally. I have all three and can honestly say that M$’s e3 portion was the one that wowed me the most. though the ps3 had some pretty shiny games (& there is no way I am spending that much for a midget PSP), some of the 360 announcements gave me goosebumps. Nintendo has scribblenaughts, that demo was AWESOME. other than that nintendo is designing games for 8 year olds suffering from ADD.
Also M$. STOP STEALING SONY EXCLUSIVES, Its getting really annoying, its great an all but I need some excuse to use my big black shiny monolith as something other than a blu-ray player!
ps3 won the exclusives they had were last guardian from ico and uncharted 2 which won best of show psp to go is a real gamefs handheld system god of war series was better than any series xbox has xbox only won with project natal which is overpriced and sony has so many exclusive games next year xbox ran out halo… every 6 months boring…
