Microsoft Project Natal Release Date

I like the movement towards more “active” video games, but the games themselves have to be more compelling for it to matter (see: The Wii’s decline recently).

Can’t wait for this, it looks amazing – though I’m sure it comes with it’s own inaccuracies like the Wii remote. It’s the first time I’ve been really impressed by something at one of these shows and the companies will have to do a lot to better it.

THIS JUST LOOKS AWWWWSSSSSSOOOOOOMMMMMMMEEEEEE AND I CANT BELIEVE ITS GOING TOO COME OUT THIS YEAR, maybe, oh and i think what he meant was that project natal will be controlled by itself, the company, not Microsoft so unless project natal is like Microsoft this shouldn’t cost soooo much that youll need a new mortgage.

The thing I want to know is will it convert games say if ur playing halo or something… Will u have the choice of full movement or lazy boy controller?
That would be a real kicker if that became apart of the whole “Natal” feature.

…..uh….most amazing thing I’ve seen. It is a WII killer. If it works as well as it is advertised ( and I suspect it does due to Steven Speilberg and noted journalists that say’s it does ) it has endless posibilites – Blew me away!!!!

I’m pretty sure that with all that Microsoft have planned for the Xbox 360 will quite easily give it the edge over other consoles although admitted we have still yet to see what Sony’s plans are..

but i think with companies like Facebook, SKY, Twitter in partnership with Microsoft i don’t think sony could offer much really..

as with using Project Natal for games like Halo 3 and other preciously released games i imagine it would be a case of just a string of game updates to allow current games to make use of the technology

FINALLY !!! a place where i can train all my sports with real players throughout the world and not bots. this is one of the reasons i love Xbox, they surprise us all the time. it shouldn’t be too expensive but i’m guessing there will be special games needed for this cuz u cant play cod4 and dodge bullets lol cod doesn’t allow that… if u get what i mean and NO MODSZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

This won’t be any good for hardcore games like Halo or COD, but it will be fun to just mess around with. Like a Super punch out, Virtua fighter kind of style. I must say though, im more excited about the Sony Controllers. Just because its actually going to do what the wii was supposed to. Jedi Lightsaber duals anyone?

Wow i read a lot of these comments. Guys this will be awsome but you can forget about using it on FPS. How would you move, run in place?. This will have minimal movement. Think Wii sports but you get to sidestep. This is going to be completely awsome for Sports/fighting/racing games but you can forget about FPS/RPGs. Unless they give us like a little thumbpad anolog stick with a trigger. Which would still be pritty awsome.

I agree the move to active games is good but it’s also going to mean more people playing games more often as they’ll start classing it exercise. And even though I am playing my Wii less i disagree with that. Its having a slow moment with its games. But when you sell them as fast as they did from release it’s hard to keep those sales up constantly. But Microsoft have just beaten Nintendo at their own target audience and more!

I looked into it more and from what ive seen they have shipped very small amounts to certain suppliers, and i agree 360 is better and will have the edge over other systems, but super smash bros brawl is the SH$#, And my geuss is it will be 300$ when it firt comes out but after 3 months or so it will go down cause noone wants to pay that price(like me) btw if anyone wants to add me on xbox live its jack8kill thx for reading.

You know what would make me by project natal without even a slight hesitation (are you listening microsoft)
Project Natal Star wars, Scan in your own light saber which you can swing around and use to cut down your storm troopers, and then push, pull and do what ever with the force just with you hand movements.

Do that and well you will see out in minits. me thinks.

This looks to be more of a revolutionizer thing than anything. It looks like what the future holds, less wires, circuits, remotes, knobs, and more movement oriented controls. I could be wrong, but many, many good things are going to come from this.

Props to this project, and I’ll be anxiously waiting for its arrival for my favorite video game platform; XBOX 360.

i dont think they will make it for like the games like Call of Duty or Forza or Halo or Mx vs Atv i think all the games that will come out for Natal will be fun beacause of the motion controlls but if you used a controller they would probably suck..like wii… wii sports would suck if you playd with a nonmotion controller… i hope they come out with a few games that are shooters or racing games for Natal but i still want to play xbox360 games like they are now….i dont want all the good games to focus on making crappy games for natal…but still NATAL LOOKS FREEKIN AWESOME AND IMA BUY IT THE DAY IT COMES OUT!!!!!!

i agree that this is going to be the best project that happened on the 360. but i disagree with a comment saying that “ps3 sucks”. no ps3 its the best and most powerful console ever built( for now ) and suprass the 360 by miles. but i still a 360 fan and i just hate sonny for all the crap they made. sonny only think in revenge (against nintendo and microsoft) and not improvement. that is what make sonny weak. the thought they were dominating the market with the ps2(wich was true but not for long). I just can’t wait until this project natal comes out.

Yeah, I heard its supposed to be coming out around Novemberish of this year if were lucky, there pushing for it. If not, were looking to February of next year. So it can either be a Christmas present or use the money from xmas to get it.

Its also been said that its supposed to be in the 200-300 price range. Depending on budgets and stuff like that. They have been have some bugs though, major bugs, and they might raise the price of it to make up for the profit they lost to fix the bugs. So I’m thinking anywhere from $250 to maybe $399?

Prokect Natal should cost no less than 200 dollars at it’s release, and the release date i can’t see it being this year 09, i think they will make it either early 2010 or a little later in 2010 like around June or something.

I can see a smashed tv if some idiot is in a cramped space, playin that fightin game and decides to punch too far. but with the wii, there are controllers that can be let go (still tethered to their wrist) and swung around like a nunchuk. The family would have to be pretty clutsy to be hittin each other (which is possible, but not the developer’s fault)

Project natal looks absolutely amazing. Just based off watching that milo demo (which blew my mind) i cant help but wonder the possibilities for this device. I found myself standing in front of my tv pretending to shoot a gun and looking for ways that you could possibly move/strafe. Without a doubt it will be interesting to see how natal puts it all together. Another thing that i have put thought into after watching the milo demo was the possible RPG games that could be made, where you can actually communicate and reason with the characters. The possibilities are limitless for natal and you will definitely find me at the front of the line to pick this up. i cant wait!

another thing, anyone consider what might happen if the adult film industry gets there hands on this.. oh boy

Its a good move for microsoft. altough i have seen pictures and heard rumours about a new nintendo wii which have said will have full body controll but wont be released or giving a release date any time soon. I dont think natal will b to much but the games they come out with are prob gonna cost like 20-40 bucks each on xbl so there gonna make a freakin fortune! I REALLY REALLY wanna play skateboarding games with natal it looks so fun! Please dont buy Skate it for wii! The skate franchise came out with the best skate games of all time hands down but the one on wii sucks nads.

I love this new active game thing! This is way better than Wii, with Wii Fit for example anyone can try and cheat on the island run! With using you’re whole body for Project Natal, you have no excuse. I regret deeply on buying that Nintendo Wii the Christmas past, it’s a relief I’ve only bought one game. So sad….270 dollars wasted because now you want the cool Project Natal. I could always sell it…

Well usually gaming consoles such as that are around 200-300 dollars, it could be just a guess

so is it actually an A.I because i just saw somthing on youtube 1 of the proggramers developed MILO which seems pretty advanced as it picks up everything u say also ansers you e.t.c i think this is a pretty good piece of software i cant wait to try with a bit of luck it will be out just in time for chrismas if it has not been sold out everywhere……
it will probally be just like the wii fit wen it first came out people went crazy buying them but then they got bored but like i said i think this project is alot more advanced and think it would be very good for kids with exersising even learning sum jakie chan moves lol

this is going to be huge and unless nintendo bring out something even bigger tahn this, then wii will fall. i dont think people will get bored at all. i reckon all games eventually will be released on natal. like a call of duty campaign on natal would be insane. something like mirrors edge also would be incredible. i reckon adventure games are going to soar in creation from this. truly incredible

I wouldn’t classify Milo as an artificial intelligence so much as a virtual intelligence. Anyone who has played Mass Effect may know the difference, but for everyone else… An artificial intelligence can actually think on its own, and do things like update itself; whereas something like Milo is programed to react to things (ie Milo follows written code, whereas an AI can essentially do whatever it wants). Of course I can’t actually say what an AI can actually do since we haven’t gotten there yet, but you get the idea.

you realise that project Natal isn’t a console, its an XBOX360 addon pack, and if an addon were to cost that much then Microsoft wouldn’t have bothered to develop it in the first place, because a Wii is probably cheaper lol

I was pretty sure this would be vitually unaffordable for the average person, but $200? That seems like a “just for looks” kindof thing. I would actually like it to have as many options as i believe it does, and you to be able to have conversations with Milo. Rather than getting it cheap, then learning its pretty cool for a week, but then you figure out everything he can and cant understand.

I would like for this to actually be as epic as it appears to be. $200 just seems…. Dressed Up Garbage.

Horrible idea. Xbox has always been geared to a mature audience hence most of their games have M ratings. This being said most hxc gamers hate this idea. I don’t like m$ being able to see what I can do with a camera. Video games are about sitting down and relaxing. I work 2 jobs and love playing games when I relax but I would hate to have to come home and run around to play a simple game. Horrible idea. I won’t be a supporter

I agree that I wouldnt want to be up jumping around all active after a long day in the oil patch but it would be fun to get the family involved when you arent relaxing, like the racing one where the dad changes out the tires and stuff. It looks like an add on to the 360 so Im sure that if you want to play with a controller they will make that possible. And if you dont want it, simple solution, dont buy it. its as simple as that, no one is requiring you to buy it and be all active after a day of work. you sir are very small minded.
