General Motors and Hummer Sale: Who bought the brand?

We all like a bit of mystery and so do General Motors; we have just learned that somebody has bought the Hummer brand from GM but have yet to reveal who the mystery buyer is. We do not even know how much the troubled automaker got for the sale of Hummer.

Worldcarfans explains that Hummer has been a dead weight for GM for some time now, and we have to agree. The world is changing and customers are not happy with driving these colossal SUVs, as we look to think more about economy automakers are looking to smaller vehicles as the future.

General Motors, who announced yesterday that they have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, said that they would continue to build Hummer vehicles under contract for the new buyer. GM also said that it would continue to assemble the H3 and H3T models at its plant in Shreveport, Louisiana until 2010.

This late deal has come as a relief to the 3,000 jobs, which are dependent on the large SUV; this includes the production plant and the dealerships.
