E3 2009: Modern Warfare 2 maps exclusive to Xbox 360

It has been revealed at this year’s E3 event that upcoming DLC map packs for Modern Warfare 2 will be timed-exclusives for the Xbox 360. We’re not sure what kind of deal Microsoft have struck with Activision/Infinity Ward, but the news was confirmed by Microsoft during their press conference at E3.

According to this Joystiq article, the first two map packs will be available first only on Xbox 360. Obviously, they didn’t comment on when the PS3 would be recieving the content after, but we imagine it will be something in the region of 4-5 weeks.

Microsoft’s John Schappert stated at E3 that the Xbox 360 version would ”lead the way in Modern Warfare 2’s online component”.

How do PS3 owners feel about this? Are you suprised or not?

that is retarded microsoft always screws up every person that i know has gotten the red ring of death and they complain of it constantly over heating. Microsoft van never fix a problem they just make a new program IE. Microsoft windows 2000 then they make they make xp when that has trouble they make a program vista that craps out and they make Mirage and the new xbox 720 new spin and a half whoooo

Woah, stop the hatred. Your so mad right now. All Sony is, is an expensive blu-ray player. There losing like $500 per console sold. Hah!

Why is it not fair? Just because a developer publishes one product multiplatform doesnt mean all of their products have to be. No one who owns a ps3 cries that Konami sells other games on 360 but not MGS4 but when the shoe is on the other foot evil M$ is just throwing money around to ruin gaming for them.

  5. Furze says:

What a big fat surprise, i saw coming. Makes no real difference though as PS3 will still get the map packs. 4-5 weeks is an easy sacrifice, much prefer to wait than to play on an xbox surrounded by mouthy little 10 year old kids crying because they got shot in the face too many times.

  6. Better_Dan_You says:

PS3 has better software+hardware and is much more prestigious to own. The 4 to 5 weeks isn’t a lot considering i will know that you poor little fags that own a 360 will have chronic lag and terrible gameplay. Hope you have fun wasting you’re nerdy little life.

  7. DUDE says:

microsoft probably did this to please all of their impatient noob players.

  8. Chuckie Cheese! says:

To be fair - I couldn’t care less about what Microsoft have done. Business is business, and besides - how many people are going to have their consoles sent back to the company for repairs, thanks to excessive use of this game?

As nice as it would have been to have these maps on the PS3, it doesn’t really phase me much. Besides, they may mean ‘exclusive’ for a while, then release on PS3.

Anyway; I expect the game will be good enough to not want/need the map packs right at the start, So keep your ‘Exclusive’ MW2 DLC, Microsoft - We don’t need it yet.

I Agree Microsofts Compulsive Bribing is indeed a problem in the gaming community however, it will not be long before producers realise the the xbox 360 cannot meet the next gernartion of gaming and the will jump bandwagon - sony offers alot more and im sure microsoft are incapble of sheding this much cash in the current eco climate for much longer.
