
Symbian Foundation New Member: Open Kernel Labs
By: Alan Ng | June 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentOpen Kernal Labs has recently announced that they are to team up with Symbian Foundation to offer their support on the growing demand for mobile devices that are virtualized with OKL4 and make use of the Symbian OS.
According to this report from IntoMobile, OKL4 is the only embedded virtualization solution for mobile phones which is available comercially on the market, with shipments approaching 250 million units in 2008.
CEO of Open Kernal Labs Steve Subar had this to say on the recent annoucement:
“The partnership with Symbian reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering superior technology to the mobile device market. The combination of the most widely used Smartphone OS, Symbian, and OKL4, the most widely used open source embedded virtualization solution, brings an unprecedented degree of integration and collaboration to mobile application developers, device OEMs and network operators.”
