Microsoft Xbox 360 and Project Natal

Remember all those Xbox 360 motion control rumors that we have been hearing about the past few months? Well turns out they were true, as Microsoft has unveiled ‘Project Natal’ , the codename for their brand new motion device.

Here’s the best part though, the motion sensing device will eliminate the need for a controller whilst gaming. The Project Natal Sensor will capture your actions, and emotional reactions and feed them into your Xbox 360 game.

According to the official Xbox site, here is the technology which makes this possible:

The Project Natal Sensor combines an RGB camera, depth sensor, multi-array microphone and custom processor running proprietary software all in one device.

Gamers will be able to simply speak into the sensor which will then feed your commands into the screen. We’re really excited by this, way to go Microsoft.

Theres more details through the link and a video for you to check out here.

I think it will be cool, but it will only work for certain games. I would never want to play a racing game using the technology because it would feel dumb to wave my hands in the air just to drive on tv. It will be good for fighting games, sport games, and maybe a few others, but I rather use a controller for shooter games, and rpg games. I sold my wii for a reason.
