Microsoft: DirectX vulnerability allows remote code execution

It has been reported that Microsoft have recently issued a security advisory which explains details about a new vulnerability that has been found in Microsoft DirectX.

As reported from TomsHardware, Microsoft have said that the exploit allows remote code execution if the end-user opens a specially crafted QuickTime media file. The report also states that Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 are the systems that are most likely to be under attack, as Vista and Windows Server 2008 are safe.

That’s not all either, as Microsoft have said that if the attack on the above systems happens, the attacker could then gain access to the same user rights as the local user.

Microsoft are said to be working on a solution to fix the problem. Theres more details in the link above. Let us know your opinion on this.
