Microsoft has announced that there will be no app limit on Windows 7 starter edition of its new operating system. This is a complete reversal of its early strategy, where the software giant was thought to be limiting its capabilities, and persuading users to upgrading to the new OS.
This is a good move on Microsoft’s part, and will be very important in its netbook market; this is the fastest growing market, as it is a cheap solution for having a personal computer. Microsoft had originally said that they would only limit Windows 7 starter edition to run just three programs.
Reuters reports that the new plan now means that there will be no application limit, something that should make users happy. It is thought that Microsoft had to give in to pressure from users, as they would have been forced to upgrade. The software giant has a number of bridges to build after the fiasco, which is Vista; this certainly is a step in the right direction.
