
GM Bankruptcy Round-Up: Auto suppliers and industry impact
By: Daniel Chubb | June 1, 2009 | Leave a CommentToday is the big day for General Motors Corp, with the bankruptcy filing planned for today it was not always thought to be certain – in 2008 GM executives said it would not happen – but this day will be a landmark for the auto industry.
The opinions are mixed when it comes to the impact of the GM Bankruptcy, with different experts claiming different expectations.
CNN Money reports that Japan expects little domestic impact from GM’s bankruptcy, while the Washington Post reports about auto suppliers bracing for the blow of GM bankruptcy.
With news of the Visteon Bankruptcy, we would expect more auto suppliers to be affected which would support the worry other auto suppliers must be feeling.
Bloomberg have posted an article about the GM Bankruptcy filing and how it will bring taxpayer ownership, less debt. Can this really be true; would GM going through bankruptcy be a positive thing for the auto industry?
