After months and months of speculation about the PSP Go!, it has now been confirmed, thanks to an accidental Sony leak. The PSP Go! will be an all new hardware unit with lots of new features and changes compared to the PSP-3000.

As reported from EuroGamer, the PSP Go! is 43 percent lighter than the PSP-3000 and will be released this Fall, according to Sony’s John Koller. The new device features a 3.8-inch sliding screen,16GB of flash memory, Bluetooth support and will rely entirely on digital content.

Yeah, thats right. The new unit will do away with UMD once and for all, but Sony have said that they will still continue to market the PSP-3000 as normal.

Blah, I’m so bored of companies endlessly redesigning and selling us the same equipment we already have.

  • link_of_hyrule

Is this a BRAND NEW device or just the PSP3000 re-designed? Also tired of endless re-releasing of existing equipment (DSi from Nintendo). How about a next-gen hand-held. (and where’s the **@#* second analogue stick??)

The Psp Go is lame and im tired of buying the same thing but new design of the same $*!*. The Psp Go is nothing but a Psp 3000 but slide up,lighter, and use a memory card to play the game.Oh yea and have bluetooth which would be cool if you can connect your phone to your Psp and send media other than that i wont buy it

  • Andrew_Gameking1

Yo yea its just a psp 3000 with a slide up but id still buy it,im a sucker for something like this. But i am dissapionted about the second analog stick,THERE ISNT ONE! But yea i’ll still buy it in white!

  • Dane

The PSP Go is so cool and no UMD plus blutooth and slide screen cool plus built in memory 16 GB

  • Rohan

Very horrible, i cant believe after ONE YEAR Sony comes up with this crap, just 3000 redesigned!!!!!! it is to small and hardly an improvement besides bluetooth and sliding. i dont care bout 16gb internal, doesnt bother me, i want TOUCH SCREEN AND SECOND ANALOGUE STICK!!!!!! also camera and/or inbuilt gps in there. bit of an improvement, maybe but they are gonna make another in 2010, and it BETTER be a massive improvement on psp 3000 and psp go!

This is insane. Who’s going to cough up that much cash to play a system that’s virtually useless without a wi-fi connection, sports Bluetooth but no 802.11g, a single analog stick from the company that INVENTED dual-analog, and a library of games that’s been crippled by the limited input scheme of the first four years’ worth of design choices?

  • BARRY

    who really uses bluetooth ?
who needs a smaller screen ?
who really wants to have to buy the same games again ?
who wants to have to buy new memory cards and other accs ? ….. looks too small and fragile for me . i have the big as hell psp, had it since the release day and use it almost every day … i like umd movies and have a fair few …
PSP GO is so 2 years ago and when it is released the 32gig ipod touch will be so much cheaper .
    sony are damd stupid apes

  • Colby

When does it come out and how much will it Be??????????????

This product is going to be a killer device reasons being:

    1. psp1000 good for sony first psp that came out killed nintendo ds in game play functions simple and the graphics.

    2. psp2000 same as the psp1000 just 1 or 2 features that changed and just re designed no point in buying , but killed its enemy nintendo ds lite with the release nintendo ds/lite absolute rubbish no point in the making of that graphics absolute rubbish and not worth anyones time. The good features of it is spending abit buying a r4,m3,edge to add ipod feature watch a video even that is rubbish because the battery life is a drainer seriously no good give it a 1 out of 5.

    3. psp3000 once again redesigned with 1 or 2 features changes and liter suprinsly losing to the nintendo dsi which is shocking they just added a crapy 2 megapixel camera can not even record video with flash memory of 2gig seriously what are you going to do with crappy memory and camera honestly it is made for 5 year old kids the games are really immature but psp3000 didnt own reasons being same design as previous ones and nothing changed

4.NOW THE PSPGO-PSP 4000 . It is completely re designed people say it looks like the psp mylo but it is just the slide up feature the rest of sony mylo absolute rubbish pspGO! has 16gb flash memory an extenabale memory slot you can add extra memory which is great for MOVIES PICTURES GAMES and it is very small so you can take it any where you wish im assuming battery life will be better then previous models and it will reach up 32gb because of external memory competing with ipod touch and killing nintendo by a long shot.

i really think sonyGO is a 4 out of 5. and it is not going to be like the products you buy and never use!

ur al right just redesigned and without wifi its useless so they need to stick with the UMD or somthin that u can buy at a store(and not a psn card) psp has done good in the past but if this psp go comes out its gonna kill there sales like never before but there to stupid to realize it and a second analog would be great and a bigger screen not smaller and improved graphics even though they are great right now but still it would be cool and a touch screen with the buttons still there and sony (KICK NINTENDO’S ASS)

am i the only one here who prefers the one anolog stick?

PSP-Go! is indeed another iteration of the PSP. However, compared to previous versions serious attempts have been made to improve the device to bring it up to date for a more serious gaming population that are on the go. It being lighter and smaller are big pluses. Further, you no longer need to hassle with UMDs. I hacked my PSP-1000 specifically to allow it to play games w/o UMDs, making gaming while traveling much easier. Further, internal memory of 16Gb allows a person the option of not needing to bring around a half dozen or so memory sticks. There’s nothing more frustrating than losing a $99 memory stick on a plane because some jerk jostled you trying to rush to the bathroom and knocked it out of your hand. Further, the bluetooth functionality allows for easier transfer of media with your PS3 (considering you own one). Also, the likelihood we’ll begin seeing PS3 games make use of the PSP Go! as an optional HUD-like support device is high. I just hope Sony brings in an App store like on smart phones. Then we could start seeing home-brew gaming etc. become more viable in a wider market place.

Due to everyone getting internet, Sony are trying to break into a market where a person with internet does not have to go to the shop and buy a game .The psp go does save money because think about it you have to pay to get on the bus or taxi.It both an ulgy and beautiful idea.

The ulgy side: the ulgy side is basically the look and design of it and what about people go on that lacunh day and buy the psp go instead of psp 3000. Mabye that person dont have internet you with be pissed LOL.One thing DSi done somthing next gen by having a camera.

The beautiful side: the good side is for serious gamers because you dont want to be putting or carrying cartridges all the time. It has a 16 gigabyte internal memory so that’s not bad. Also Sony said any new game coming out for psp with be on the download site before the shop get it.
You also do waste money by going on the bus or taxi LOL.

My verdict: If you want all round greatness buy psp3000 because you can do either downloading the game or buy it in cartridge form , so you dont lose out really. If you are like me and always on the go then psp go is good for you because I dont have time to buy cartridges all the times.I am a pretty lazy person .

    Thank you

  • chris b

what da hell no camera they are crazy they’ll come with one that has a camera after eveyone has bought the first one i think dsi is still on top

  • a person

heh…was hoping for a right analog stick

  • Big CP

This product is a total ripoff what idiot wants more of the same thing. I want touch screen, camera and at least 32 gig memory psp games take up at least 1 to 2 gigs. If it had touch screen it could use all the apps that apple has. The same old psp for $250 just new design and internal memory is a rip off, I can go out and buy a 16 gig memory card. I would probably want it if the price was $199 and the psp 3000 should be $149.

  • Eric

God damnit cmon sony if your making a whole new system then do everythig write first internal memory you should have dont this in the first place no one wants too have a shit-load of memory sticks amd look omg the perfect place for a 2nd analogue stick o know you stuck a fucking start button there if they had put one in they could sell all the ps3 games and have it able to play online with ps3 and upload your profile onto it also add a camera you want to wi dsi has a camera and if competition has one you put one in and there fucking japanese tey can stick HD gaming onto that als othey better have a market place that sewls all games music and vids otherwise this system is just the psp 3000 with a sliding and smaller screen.

  • Karagera

I think its a bit like the others and Sony could use some better ideas (SECOND ANALOG STICK). Its not that bad of an idea in the long run. A 16GB flash drive is a good step forward along with the 3.8 sliding screen. Hopefully a better battery life will fit in there some where. Yes I know your all disappointed about Sony’s previous releases (PSP V1000, V2000, V3000) but this will most likely be a step forward and not a step back. Also as an added bonus its about the price of the PSP way back when (249.99 USD). STOP COMPLAINING HOW THERES NO TOUCH SCREEN! ITS NOT EASY MAKING THOSE AND PUTTING THEM INTO A SMALL DEVICE (Iphone is an exception but does cost $450.00).

In the end I give it a 8.9 out of ten. Just for all you non-techies out there flash drives degrade after about 5 or 6 years so hope they come out with a new version in the coming years

  • Davis

I like the portability of it, and the external memory, and the lightness is okay, but what i dont like is the smaller screen, re designed model of the 3000 series…but what i think i would like to be added is a second analog stick, and something like Rohan’s idea of a gps, like when you loose it somehow, and you have a programm on your computer to locate it and stuff, cause i lost my psp 3000, and it was a bust!

  • http://dsipaint.com Zorathan

    um… “This Fall” isn’t a release DATE! stupid people…

  • Vanish

dont forget guys it has TOUCH SCREEN but only for certain applications…i just hope it will be better for multimedia.. i want something like this for on-the-go use like internet browsing at starbucks. hopefully itll have a music organizer… im hoping this is going to be good because im leaning towards an ipod touch 32gb.. but if PSPGO is a success by all means im picking up the premium package in white….

  • plplplp

Seriously, where the h*** is the 2nd analog stick… -..- …still, I might buy it since all I got now is a broken 1000-model… yup, the first (fatty) one :p

  • butthead

ur really retarded it has 802.11g and it has its own wifi so u dont need a connection retard. its digital only games dumass so none of the umds work.

  • Ryan

i didnt even know about psp 3000…why dont they advertise these game systems a little bit? its only half the price of a ps3 (which got all the publicity it wanted but still lost somewhat to xbox 360)…but really unless you research this shit you dont know about it

  • an expert

Not buying that for sure its going similar graphics so the games will be hardy bettr then the 3000. Not adding anotehr joy stick means you won’t be able to play fps’ like the 3000 which is a let down.

  • dnsfan

come on the psp GO is not a huge change. but if you dont have a psp and you want to buy one you have to admit that the psp GO is the best choice. that crappy UMD disc is gone so you can download the games from your psp so you dont have to take all the umd disc,s with you and small is better believe many game journalist,s werent advantageous about the psp GO but when they had seen him they found him a huge boost

sorry for the spelling im dutch

  • dnsfan

i forget to say that the graphics are better because of the small screen sorry you,re not an expert

  • poison_427

    will the graphics be better?

  • poison_427

u mean d screen quality will be better coz of d small screen.. will d graphics be better tho?

  • tgg

no umd ? That 16gb of flash will fill up fast ! not a great idea. rather have a umd for games and leave the flash for my media.

  • http://daggrist123 Daggrist123

Psp go is awsome. Better for skype. But you dont have to get it if you have a psp 3000

  • bryant young

the psp go was actually mad by an 13 year old boy who lives in chattanooga, tennessee but the company stole the idea because the boy didnt get his design legalized
