Verizon: Android, Palm Pre, and BlackBerry Storm 2
By: Peter Chubb | May 29, 2009 | Leave a CommentVerizon Wireless might not be getting the new Apple iPhone in 2009, but that does not mean that the carrier will be short of a few good smartphones. There have been a number of reports that the Palm Pre, a Google Android handset and also the RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 will be making its way to Verizon.
PC World explains that the real shocker has to be the Pre, Sprint is to launch the Palm Pre on June 6, but Verizon could get the much-anticipated handset in six months time. I have a theory on this, Palm knew that they would struggle to produce enough units, so only wanted to offer it to Sprint for the moment, in six months there will be more than enough Pre handsets for two carriers.
As well as the Palm Pre, Verizon will also get a Google phone, which uses the Google Android OS; this should be later this year. The RIM BlackBerry Storm 2 is no surprise, as Verizon is already the sole carrier of the first incarnation of the Storm.
